Condolence: Mr. Shell was a pillar in the schools and the community he served and lived in. He always did what he believed to be right in whatever situation he dealt with. He loved his teachers and he loved his students and no one doubted that. His influence is still evident in the expressions of love and sympathy that people are sharing. Rest in peace in that big classroom in Heaven, Mr. Shell.

Condolence: When the doors opened for the new Northmont High School in September 1959, Dick Shell was standing in the foyer with his arms crossed watching the students file into the new high school. He was an imposing presence, then and for all his days at Northmont. He was one of the finest administrators I have ever had the opportunity to work with. I shall always remember him for his compassion, fairness and humor.

Condolence: Mr. Shell was a Rock for all the students that he was responsible for at Northmont High School. It wasn't until after my high school years that I realized he was an example of what a man is supposed to be. He was a living example of a very fine man who loved life and all of his students.

Condolence: I had the extrene privilege of having Mr. Shell as my principal at Northmont HS '66-'70. He was a strong, firm, yet kind and compassionate giant of a role model to me. I can still see him standing stoically in the hallways of NHS between classes, making sure all was right on his watch.
My sincerest condolences to his family and many, many friends.
