Condolence From: Grant Dixon
Condolence: Dear Brumbaugh Family,

I was so sorry to hear of Bob's passing and I wanted to pass along some memories.
My dad died when I was 4 years old and "Mr. B" helped fill that father void in my life.
I was at your house a lot like many of the neighborhood kids. I would hang around
Mr. B whenever I could since I always enjoyed learning about whatever Mr. B was working
on. He could do anything. As I've grown older I've met very few people who could fix
so many things. However, it was more than that. He seemed to have a vast knowledge of
things going on in the world and could talk in depth about anything I had questions about.
Mr. B influenced me in so many ways. I can link my enjoyment of wood working, electronics,
car repair, and many other things back to Mr. B.

I owe Mr and Mrs B and your family so much. Let me share just a few more memories. I
remember building a shed in the lower part of your yard with Lee, Robert and friends.
I'm not sure why we built it but I remember all of us catching snakes and keeping them
in the shed. I remember building our version of go-karts with old lumber and riding
them down the hill. I remember the outdoor movie nights eating popcorn and watching
movies like the "Creature of the Black Lagoon" using a sheet or the back of the house
for a movie screen. Of course, Lee, Mark Fryman, and I would run around building tree
forts in the woods and getting into mischief over the years. I remember Mr. B working
on lots of Corvairs. He seemed to get a kick out of the flat 6 engine.

Of course, I met my future wife Chris at your house. She has been a blessing and a
treasure for over 40 years. I followed Chris to Basore Rd church just so I could see
her more. That led to me coming back to Christ and trying to live what the Bible teaches
which has made such a wonderful difference in my family life and our daughters.

I could go on and on, but I have always been amazed at Mr and Mrs B's kindness, patience
and good humor. They had their own big family but opened up their house to all of us kids
in the neighborhood and shared their lives. Most of the time with a smile. Words like
"thank you" are certainly not enough, but I thank you.

Love and prayers of comfort,

Grant
