Tom was there for me.
I worked with Tom for many years, and he was my supervisor for much of that time. Tom was my supervisor first, but the influence he had in that role resulted in my having one of the best friends I have had in life.
I had graduated from college, but my confidence was low that I could make the transition from my hourly job to the Finance Department. Tom saw me on the grounds one day, assured me that he had confidence in me, and let me know the Finance Department was interested in hiring me.
Over the years with Tom as my supervisor we did many things successfully, and Tom was always supportive. There is one particular occasion, however, where I felt like a total failure. I didnt know if Tom wanted to keep me on or not. After talking with Tom about it, he told me that nobody succeeds all the time and that I should not worry at all about what happened. Pick yourself up and learn from what happened, and youll be fine.
I will never forget the support Tom gave me in my time of crisis. He stood by me when I was down. He became much more than a supervisor, we become great friends, and I will miss him forever.
