Obituary for Lynn A. Wolf (Allyn)

Lynn A. Wolf (Allyn)
WOLF, Lynn A., age 69 of Butler Township, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at home. Lynn retired from Grandview Hospital as a nurse after 26 years. She was a member of Ft. McKinley UMC. She is survived by her husband of 48 years Dennis, 2 sons Eric (Terri) of Huntsville, OH, Karl (Kara) of Davenport, IA, grandson Spencer, brother Carl (Cathy) Allyn of Placerville, CA, and mother-in-law Frances Wolf. Lynn was born in Evansville IN and grew up in Mount Vernon, IN. She was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School. Lynn's mother was ill for quite a few years. She and her brother, Carl received care, guidance, and love from their grandparents, Clarence and Ilene Allyn. As a result, Lynn's cooking abilities, which were wonderful, were learned from her grandmother. Influenced by her mother's medical issues, Lynn chose to follow a nursing career. She first attended Indiana Central College in Indianapolis, where she met her future husband, Dennis. She had to drop out of school, mainly due to her mother's problems and return home. She went on to graduate from the Evansville School of Practical and many years later, Sinclair Community College to achieve her RN degree. She and Dennis married in 1969 and she was snatched away from Hoosierland to become a transplanted Buckeye. She began work at Grandview Hospital the same year and was one of the first Intensive Care nurses hired in a completely new unit. Her career lasted 26 years, with many 12-hour plus days. That work took a toll on her knees and hips which forced her to retire in 1995. While working full time, she gave birth to two sons Eric and Karl. Lynn, Dennis, and the two boys enjoyed traveling to Disney World, California, and may other local places. Dennis and Lynn also traveled to Europe in 1981. Lynn grew up with grandparents and great-grandparents that attended various churches. She always had a great belief and faith in God. In her nursing, she saw many critical cases which ended with the person passing. She firmly believed that the soul immediately goes to be with God when that occurred. That belief has been a comfort to her family as well. Besides Eric and Karl, and their wives, Terri and Kara, Lynn also enjoyed sharing in the life of her only grandson, Spencer, Eric and Terri's son. Lynn had one brother, Carl Allyn, who lives with his wife, Cathy, in Placerville, CA. Lynn's life was one of service and devotion to family, both of which based on a firm belief in God. She was a faithful member of Fort McKinley United Methodist Church for many years. Her example of a proper life, always respectful and helpful to others, will always be remembered. We celebrate her life and know that she is with God, free of all her earthly ills and problems. Services 12 noon Friday, at Baker-Hazel & Snider Funeral Home 5555 Philadelphia Dr. at N. Main St. by Pastor Jon Morgan. Interment Polk Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 11th from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Ft. McKinley UMC in her memory. Online condolences for the family may be sent to www.bakerhazelsnider.com.
