Obituary for Thomas Grandillo

Thomas Anthony “Thom” Grandillo, 57 of Dayton passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017. He was born in Cleveland to Anthony D. and Lucy (DeLuca) Grandillo on March 8, 1960.
He was a graduate of St. Rita’s Grade School, Chaminade-Julienne High School and Sinclair Community College.
He was a successful wine consultant and sales associate for more than 30 years where he was popular with many loyal customers in the Miami Valley and beyond. He was a renowned guitarist and was well respected by the music community in Dayton and throughout the Midwest. He was active in the renewal of the Dayton’s neighborhoods especially around the Dayton Canoe Club where he served as Commodore for two years. Most recently, he single-handedly restored and re-painted the mural on Riverside Drive celebrating the heritage of the Canoe Club.
He will be sadly missed by his mother Lucy, of Dayton; brothers Michael (Nancy) of Northville, MI and Tiffin and John of Upper Sandusky; nephew Vincent of Tiffin and niece Gina of Dayton and Tiffin; beloved maternal uncles Patsy (Rachel) of Steubenville and Felix of Cambridge; cherished cousins and a multitude of faithful friends.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Anthony and paternal uncle, Francis and maternal Aunt Josephine.
Family will receive friends Saturday, October 21st 2-4 at Baker – Hazel & Snider Funeral Home, 5555 Philadelphia Drive at North Main with a Catholic prayer service led by Deacon James Olinger of St. Rita’s at 4PM. After the service, there will be a celebration of his life at the Dayton Canoe Club. His remains will be interred at a later date.
