Obituary for Thomas Workman

Workman, Thomas F heard God calling his name, answered without hesitation, and holding Joanne's hand, peacefully entered his Heavenly home. Born 88 years ago to Thomas and Alice (Riley), Tom lived in several places but his favorite place he called home was Dayton, OH. After serving in the Korean War, Tom met the love of his life and settled in Vandalia raising their children and instilling in them an appreciation for music, history, genealogy, and nature. Tom felt it was very important in knowing where you came from in order to know where you are going. And in the end, Tom felt all the love that surrounded him and went forth to join Joanne when he was ready. "I've lived a life that's full, I've traveled each and every highway, But more, much more than this, I did it my way".

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved brother (Richard), his bride of 61 years (Joanne), and son (Carl). Tom is survived by his 5 children: Ralph (Connie), Tina Goldberg (Lance), Alice Byrd (Mark), Annalisa Smith (Kevin), and John (Shelli), blessed with 10 grandchildren (Danielle, Phillip, Lindsey, Joseph, Maranda, Andrea, Elena, Alex, Camden and Ruby) and most cherished companion, Kita.

The family would like to thank all those who provided not only care but nurturing to Dad in the preparation of his final journey especially the following: Dr Mark Couch, the angels from Hospice of Dayton (Rachel, Barb, Sandy, Pastor Tom, IPU staff and homecare), and Pam who was a true blessing.

May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind always be at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, may the rain fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Hospice of Dayton or Animal Resource Center. Online memories and condolences may be left for the family at www.bakerhazelsnider.com
