Obituary for David Alan Woods

WOODS, David A., age 70 of Dayton, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 10, 2017. Preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Leona Woods, father-in-law Donald McCowen. Survived by his wife of 42 years Lynette, sister Patti (Gary) Sellers, 3 brothers, mother-in-law Eileen McCowen, sisters-in-law Donna Egner, Judy (Hans) Markland, and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. David was a 1965 graduate of Fairborn High School and served the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired as a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy in 2000 after 30 years of service. David was a Past President of the F.O.P. Lodge # 104 and The Blue Knights. After retirement David served as a Harrison Township Trustee and currently serving as President. He was a member of the First Baptist Church Union, as well as the Englewood Masonic Lodge. Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Baker-Hazel & Snider Funeral Home 5555 Philadelphia Dr. at N. Main St. by Pastor Dan Kincer. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Union, the Harrison Twp. Fire Department or a charity of one’s choice in David’s memory.
