HART, Marilyn Jean (Klingshirn), of Dayton, Ohio (formerly of Brookville) passed away on September 10 at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. Born in Dayton on December 29, 1933 to Sebastian and Eleanor (Depweg) Klingshirn, she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John P. Hart, her daughter Jennifer Hart Schaffer and her brother James Klingshirn. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Candace M. Hart, Mary L. Gearhardt (Michael), Amy H. Wright (Wesley), John P. Hart II (Suzanne), David L. Hart (Lori), Beth E. Allaire (Stephen), her brother David A. Klingshirn, and son-in-law Charles Schaffer. Also surviving her are grandchildren and their spouses, Anna Lindsay (Sean), Amy Ferguson, Rachel Prindle (Dan), Michael Gearhardt, Ryan Schaffer, Christopher Schaffer, Rebecca Jones (Lenual), Sarah Schaffer, Andrew Schaffer (Megan), Emily Schaffer, Patrick Wright (Rebekah), Jeffrey Wright (Brandie), Thomas Wright, John Hart (Lisa), Alex and Nathan Hart, Peter, Jacob, and Ben Hart, Matt, Joseph, and Kate Allaire. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren (and 2 more on the way).
Marilyn and her husband John were married for over 60 years. She was a graduate of Julienne High School and attended the University of Dayton as an art major before leaving to marry and raise her family. Marilyn was a life-long resident of the Dayton area. A talented artist and businesswoman, she founded and operated Hartline Tours for 20 years, taking clients on adventures locally and around the world. As a watercolorist, she donated over 200 paintings to charities and exhibited at the University of Dayton’s Marion Library religious paintings honoring the Virgin Mary. Marilyn was honored by the Dayton Daily News as one of its Top Ten Women in 2000 and was inducted into the Chaminade-Julienne Hall of Fame. To her family, she was always their top woman.

Marilyn was instrumental in establishing the “Art in Manufacturing” exhibit at Dayton History’s Carillon Historical Park, which celebrates, posthumously, local artists and their contributions to manufacturing through their art. She was a member of Precious Blood Church for over 70 years. An avid fundraiser, she assisted many organizations with fund-raising efforts and thanks everyone that she had the privilege of working with over the years. Life is better when shared with family and friends. No one exhibited this better than our mother and grandmother.

Please join the family as they celebrate Marilyn’s life with the Mass of Christian Burial at Precious Blood Church, 4961 Salem Avenue, Dayton, Ohio at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, Sept. 29th with Reverend Fr. James Seibert presiding. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service on Saturday, from 9:00 – 11:00 AM. Internment at Calvary Cemetery will be conducted privately by her family.
