Obituary for Tom Baldasare

BALDASARE, Thomas Frank “Tom” 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. He was born to proud Italian parents in Dayton, Ohio on October 18, 1928 the son of Louis and Rose (Zigarella) Baldasare. Tom retired in 1992 from Abington Steel in Brookville, following years in the motorcycle business. He started his work life as a truck driver and relished in the “freedom of the road”. His humor-filled stories often became the highlight of any social gathering. After retirement, Tom became a community volunteer at charitable events. He was the only spouse awarded “Honorary Membership” for outstanding dedication to the Rotary Club of Vandalia (2006) of which his wife was a member. He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Beverly Rutledge Baldasare; her children Ronald Sheffer, Jr. (Tracy), Betina (David) Quiring; grandchildren Brittany, Shelby and Kaylee; brothers Louis Jr., Michael (Eunice), Frank (Linda) and Anthony (Ruth); sisters include the late Josephine Carsner, Mary (Garry) Stolzenburg and Teresa Deak; 4 adopted grandchildren, Carrie, Michael, Derrick and Aliya; a host of nieces and nephews; loving and supportive friends (takes a “village”). Tom was quite the doting husband and his male peers accused him of “setting the bar too high”. Tom never met a stranger. His “Tomisms”, kind and considerate nature and ornery smile will forever grace our lives.
