Obituary for Esther T. "Etchie" Chestnut (Delgado)

CHESTNUT, Esther T., “Etchie” age 90 of Dayton, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018 at Springhill Singing Woods. Born on October 15, 1927 in New York City, she graduated from Ann Arbor High School and attended classes at the University of Michigan where she met her future husband, Joseph Chestnut.
Survived by her husband of 67 years, Joseph, sons David (Deborah) and Alex (Susan), sisters Sandra Ambrosio (Howard), Rita Ruskin (Jeff), brother Robert Delgado (Bruce), grandchildren Nicholas (Shannon), Kristopher, Kimberly, Drew and Brendan, five great-grandchildren and six nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents John Delgado and Lucretia Ruisanchez-Lopez, and son Andrew. During her lifetime, Esther was very active in the Dayton community. She was a board member of Dayton Children’s Hospital, president of TWIGS and president of the Dayton Women’s Club. She loved to travel, and had visited much of the world with her husband. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 29, 2018 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 5401 N. Main St., Dayton, OH 45415, by Father Timothy Knepper C.P.PS. Burial will follow at Shiloh Park Cemetery in Dayton. A Celebration of Life luncheon will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dayton Children’s Hospital in her memory.
