SMITH, Elsie M. age 96 of Dayton passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018. Born July 12, 1921 in United, WV to Joseph and Anna Speray who were Hungarian immigrants that met on Ellis Island and later married. Elsie spent a majority of her youth and young adulthood in Michigan. She met and married her late husband, “Smitty” Oliver Smith in 1949. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joe, Charlie, and Louie; and sister, Agnes. She is survived by her two children, Teresa “Terry” Smith and her friend Chere Layer of Union, OH and Brian Smith of Dayton, OH. She worked for Dayton Public Schools food service. She was a long-time member of Assumption Catholic Chuch of Dayton. Special thanks to Hospice of Dayton home care. A memorial service will be 1pm Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Baker-Hazel & Snider Funeral Home, 5555 Philadelphia Dr. with Father Josh Otusafo officiating. The family will receive friends from 12pm until time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
