Obituary for Marjorie Sydor

SYDOR, Marjorie (Kinnear), age 94, passed away on March 2, 2018. Born in Akron, Ohio July 18, 1923, daughter of the late Ralph and Marie Kinnear. A 1941graduate of Columbus North H.S. and a 1945 graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Business Administration. Served with U.S. Army Special Services as Director of Enlisted Men’s Service Club in Schweinfurt, Germany and as Director of Airmen’s Services Club at Lockbourne A.F.B. Columbus, and at Wright-Patterson A.F.B. During the following years, she held part-time jobs as a Lazarus and Rike’s cashier, bank teller, receptionist/rental agent, and was a poll worker for 35 years. Preceded in death in 2016 by Stephen, her husband of 65 years; and her sister Joanne O’Bryan who, along with Marjorie, were the final two members of the pioneer Kinnear family that developed the north end of Columbus (Clintonville). Survived by daughters Diane Sydor of Vandalia, Nancy Zafris of Columbus, and Corinne Zigman of Miamisburg; grandchildren Jennifer Sydor-Fabricatore of Brooklyn, NY and Samuel Zafris of Columbus; a great-grandson on the way; a dear cousin Sandra Patton O’Mara of Catskills, NY; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 7, at 2 pm at Baker-Hazel & Snider, 5555 Philadelphia Dr. in Dayton. Family will receive friends one hour before service. Reception to follow. Burial in Kinnear family lot, Old Union Cemetery, Columbus, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to a charity of your choice.
