Obituary for Bill Houston

Bill Houston
Houston, William Anthony Sr. "Bill" 70 of Miamisburg , Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 1, 2018. He is proceeded in death by father, Joseph William "Joe Bill" Houston and sister, Sue, brother Michael Alan. He is survived by his loving wife, Darien Kay; daughter Stephanie (Doug) Joseph; son Anthony; 6 grandchildren Jessica, Brett (Kristen), Emily (Jacob), Courtney, Haley and Lana, 3 great-grandchildren Bentley, Meredith and Blakely; mother Maude Evelyn; 2 brothers Dan and Joe Criss; 1 sister Brenda; numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill graduated from Carlisle High School in 1965. After 2 years of service he received honorable discharge from the Army. Bill married the love of his life Darien Kay Cecil in 1969. God completed their family with two beautiful children.

Bill gave his life to the Lord in 1981. He felt the calling to preach in 1983 and was ordained in 1984. He answered the calling to full-time ministry as an evangelist in 1985. He was a member of Dryden Road Pentecostal church for over 32 years. He preached and ministered God's love in many states for almost 35 years. Living what he preached everyday, he faithfully dedicated his life to the Lord's service. He believed until his last breath that God was faithful and worthy to be trusted. He was a man of unwavering integrity and would say today, "That God had never failed him."

He loved to garden and be outdoors. He had a wonderful sense of humor; always laughing and telling jokes. He loved to be outside around a fire, toasting marshmallows, and roasting hotdogs. He loved a daily treat of ice cream. Across the country, churches would keep a supply of oatmeal pies when he came to preach.

Bill was proud to be a dad and would have given his life for his children. He was thrilled to be Papaw and finally made "Great" by the birth of his great grand babies. But he was also known as papaw by countless numbers of children that he had ministered to over the years. Bill's family grew to include many friends and acquaintances that become very dear to his heart.

Even though Heaven is rejoicing at his home coming he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Funeral service will be held 11:30 am Monday, March 5 at Dryden Road Pentecostal Church, 3201 Dryden Road, by Rev. Bennie D. Sutherland. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 4 from 4-8 pm at the church. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. Online memories and condolences may be left for the family at www.bakerhazelsnider.com.
