DARRAH, George A. age 80 passed away Tuesday November 28, 2017. Primarily due to CTE, his brain was donated to the research center at Boston University for Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE). He was born on February 24, 1937 in Lancaster, PA to the late John and Nora Darrah. He was an all-around athlete in basketball, baseball, golf, racquetball, handball and received a football scholarship from F &M, Lancaster PA. He married the love of his life in 1954, Evelyn Reidenbach. In 1969 he was the Executive Director of the Dayton Boys and Girls Club. He dedicated his life to children through the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. He was a long-time member of Ginghamsburg UMC and played an active role in leading folks to Christianity.
George is survived by his loving wife Evelyn; 4 children Dennis (Terri), Elizabeth (Bill) Miller, Terri (Mark) Weiss and Cindy (Larry) Vetere; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; also survived by many other loving family members.
A Memorial Service will be held 4PM Sunday January 14, 2018 at Ginghamsburg UMC 6759 S Co Rd. 25A, Tipp City, OH 45371, in the main campus. Contributions may be made to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America 1828 West Stewart Street Dayton, Ohio 45417 or Ginghamsburg UMC in George’s memory.
