Ruth N. Wade, 96, of Centerville passed away on October 16, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wade, and daughter, Margaret (Peggy) Lynn. Ruth was born on October 16, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY and was educated in the Upper Darby, Pennsylvania schools, received a B.A. degree from Brooklyn College, U.C.N.Y. and pursued graduate studies at Springfield (Mass.) College, Miami University and the University of Dayton. She served on the faculty of Bridgeville High School in Delaware, East Longmeadow School in Massachusetts, and taught 10 years in the Dayton City Schools. Ruth was a member of Shiloh Church, Alpha Delta Pi sorority and the Dayton College Women’s Club. She was a former Campfire Girls leader and enjoyed many volunteer positions. A longtime resident of St. Leonard’s Senior Center, Ruth was happy in many activities. She loved animals and over the years had many cats. Sophie, the St. Leonard therapy dog, spent much of her time in Ruth’s care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to S.I.C.A. or the Humane Society of Dayton. A brief graveside service will be held at 10 am on Monday, October 30, at Royal Oak Cemetery in Brookville. Services have been trusted to Baker-Hazel & Snider.
