UMSTEAD, Elaine
Age 85, passed away Thursday June 16, 2016 in Dayton. She is preceded in death by her loving husband James, retired Lt. Col. U.S. Air Force; her parents Edward J. and Bernice Milsom; son James T. Umstead. She is survived by sons and daughter-in-law’s R. Scott & Judy Umstead of Sewickley, PA, Bruce D. and Julie Umstead of Kitty Hawk, NC, and 5 grandchildren Elizabeth and her fiancé Clint Bennett, Spencer, Jillian, Danielle and husband Ben Sopp , Shelby; and her sister Marilyn and husband Dr. J.R. Briggs. She graduated from Central High School, in DC, in 1949 and attended O.U. in Athens from 1949-52 where she was involved in Alpha Xi Delta Sorority and a cheerleader. Elaine was a long time member of Fairview UMC, participating in numerous committees. She retired from Elder Beerman and was a member of the D.A.R.
A memorial service will be held 1PM Monday June 20, 2016 at Fairview United Methodist Church in Dayton. Rev. Barbara Wiechel will officiate. Reception to follow at the church.
