Obituary for Mary Frances Zimmerman

ZIMMERMAN, Mary Frances (Hiatt), age 85 of Kettering, OH, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012. Mary was born September 26, 1926 in Dayton, OH, daughter of the late James and Neva (Crouch) Hiatt. She was the owner and operator of the Mary Hiatt Dance Studios located in Dayton, Centerville and the Belmont community. As a part of her dance studio, Mary was the director of the Hiatt-etts a baton and drum corps that preformed in some of the nation’s major parades such as, the Orange Bowl in Florida along with numerous local events. Mary, along with her sister, Jean Hiatt Paskin, taught dance to many of Dayton’s population from the mid 1940’s to the late 1990’s. Both Mary and Jean were active members of the Dance Masters of America Association.

Mary is survived by her 2 nieces, Terrie Paskin Sullivan of Winter Haven, FL and Denise Paskin Isler of Auburndale, FL; 4 great-nieces; 7 great-great-nieces; 4 great-great-nephews and 1 great-great-great-niece. She was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Zimmerman and her sister, Jean Hiatt Paskin.

Mary will be missed by her family, friends and students.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Brookdale Place in Oakwood and Hospice of Dayton for their wonderful care of Mary during her time at their facilities.

A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Saturday, September 8, 2012 at David's United Church of Christ, 170 W. David Rd., Dayton, OH 45429, Rev. Dr. Brian Q. Newcomb officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 12-1 PM Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420, in Mary's memory.
